How to set up system for remedial teaching and home work?
Definition of REMEDIAL TEACHING:
(i)
Re-teaching any topic on demand of the
students if the topic was not understood by them during first round of
teaching.
(ii)
Followed by a diagnostic test (oral
test) , filling up of the learning gaps and removing misconcepts cropped in the
thoughtful mind of the students.
(iii) Identification of Students with
Special Needs and Learning difficulties and giving them guided drill work or
practice work to uplift their level to ensure NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND (NCLB).
(iv) A separate free form of remedial plan is to
be maintained in the form of a register in which brief description of the
remedial teaching is done with content taught , methods followed, effects in
the form of observed learning outcome / abilities, remedial task given.
Students should be suggested to maintain a thick register for practice work
particularly for mathematics and sciences.
Definition of HOME WORK :
(i) Homework is achievable performance task which students are expected to do after teaching a portion or after completion of the chapter so that
students are engaged in the learning process and don’t forget what was
taught.
(ii) Homework can be a practice work or repeating, reading aloud or re-
writing so that the concepts enter from temporary memory to permanent
memory leading to DEEP LEARNING.
1.
Each teacher will get one homework
and one remedial period in two consecutive periods during 9th and 10th
period.
2.
Hence each teacher will get enough time
to conclude and ensure that students tried to do the homework and if not they
are hand-held by the teacher during the homework period.
3.
The purpose of the home period is not only
to ensure that practice work to be done by the student is complete but also to
ensure that students are not rendered support-less to complete any task which
is not achievable by him/her due to diversity in the aptitude among the peer.
4.
The Home Work should be described well
in the student’s diary (communicator), the Date of Chapter End Test Should also
be communicated in students’ diary one week earlier.
5.
The homework should be described
clearly with the subject and clear instruction with the question number and page number
in the class logbook file, so that it can be read by the person clearly who
sends SMS to the parents.
