How to find students who require mentors support ?

-

1.     Mentor Mentee Session is required for those children who don’t get parental guidance at home related to ensuring self study time and even nutrition.
2.     Mentor teacher first find out all the possible reason for lack of focus of the child first. Broadly the possible reasons and their solution are as follows :

SOLUTION IN CONTROL OF TEACHER
Lack of Pre-Knowledge
Provide easy to difficult worksheet using text book of previous class and bridge the gap, by close follow up, keeping parents informed and the same documented in the action analysis sheet and/or various record register.
Loss of Learning Habit due to Previous Culture of Getting Marks in the examination with leniency for temporary satisfaction of the parents.
Provide time bound practice work and ensure that minimum writing work in the form of practice of writing answers, handwriting or solving mathematics problems has started.
Lack of Learning Environment at Home - Excessive Use of Television, Guests at Home, and no Dedicated Space at Home for the Students to learn.
Do parent counseling, ask parents to follow the rules of good parenting especially like :
(i) Not to use television too much.
(ii) Dedicate study room or table-chair for self study at home.
(iii) Paste self study time table on the wall in-front of the study table.
(iv) Complete written practice work to remember the concepts in the form of questions and answers.
(v) Solve mathematics problems, daily to develop the problem solving skill.
(vi) Read aloud a chapter and learn the meaning of new word and it usage using a dictionary.
(vii) Unwanted discussion near the child should be avoided.
(viii) Quality time should be spent after school instead of roaming around in the colony or village.
Lack of Joint accountability for the child with proper process in agreement with the parent and school system.
Teacher can suggest school leaders to conduct home visit and find the condition of learning environment at home meeting basic criteria or not. Parent should be given easy to understand basic check points to follow for maintaining conducive environment for the student to study at home.
