How to make students revise and practice for examinations?

1.     Revision is the key to good learning outcomes in terms of marks.

2.     Guided revision work by motivating students for self-study is needed.

3.     Teachers must ensure, that students carry good quality practice notebook in the form of thick register, in which they solve pattern questions, concept building questions or examiners' favorite questions.

4.     Mentor teachers (class teachers/remedial teachers) can provide self-study time table in practice notebook.

5.     Mentor teachers (class teachers / remedial teachers) can provide a table of weekly revision practice work and can check them to be completed or not.

6.     Incase students don’t complete, then it has to be understood, whether students couldn’t do or didn’t do due to lack of focus.

7.     If ability is a constraint remedial teaching has to be done.

8.     If lack of focus is a constraint then such frequency of not responding to the teachers instruction has to be noted and joint meet with parents should be conducted, so that parent’s expectations can be set.

9.         A series of revision test, revision assignment submission with date, revision worksheet, revision questionnaire can be provided for guiding the students learning process.

10.     Separate record-keeping for efforts made for the child and escaping tendency of the child each time he was mentored, retaught and practice work was given must be done for effective communication with parent for him/her to decide whether to continue with the same school or not.

11.     For the students showing considerable difference in the learning outcome also, record should be kept about what process was followed and what was the positive result, so that the best-validated method becomes the mentoring style, pattern over the year.
