How to set up Mentor Mentee Relationship for Less Motivated Students?
MENTOR – MENTEE
RELATIONSHIP IS PROVING TO BE EFFECTIVE SYSTEM TO DEVELOP GOOD LEARNING STYLE
AMONG THE STUDENTS
To be able to write in the examination correctly practice is
required, the practice should be done by writing repeatedly. The number of
times a child should write is dependent upon the retention capacity of the
brain which further depends upon concentration power.
The recalling or remembering depends upon how many times a particular topic had been revised. Hence a good learning style of theoretical concepts must involve first READING SILENTLY WITH DICTIONARY IF REQUIRED, THEN READING ALOUD, THEN WRITING KEY TERMS, THEIR DEFINITION, DISTINGUISHING THE RELATED TERMS. While a discussion about why students are paying attention to the teacher some expectation from the teachers towards teacher and some expectations of students from teacher was noted.

Expectation of teachers from

Students should not keep C.W & Practice Work Pending.

Provide easy and logical conceptual notes on the green board.
|
Students should write in good handwriting and minimize spelling
mistakes
|
Give remarks for correction work to be done and tips for improvement.
|
Students should read and write repeatedly for revision of the topics
taught.
|
After teaching, learning drill in the form of interesting quiz and
worksheet or crossword puzzle or learning game should be there.
|
Students must present the class-work and practice work to report
learning work done.
|
Teacher will regularly oversee and put signature on the work done and
guide regularly how practice work can be improved to go for the next level.
|
Common Expectations:
1. The practice work done at home must be acknowledged by the parents so that learning environment at home is take care.
2. The remarks given by the teacher has to be valued by the students, and then only expected improvement can be realized.
3. At 9:30 PM parents must sign at the end of the page where practice work was done.
4. At 11:20 AM or 1:20 PM Mentor teacher must have a look in the practice note book and put an initial to acknowledge that learning efforts are
in control of the joint effort of parents and teachers.
Reason for slight
drop in marks in consecutive exams:
- Bio-rhythm - Physical, Emotional and Mental Level are different on different days naturally and students might not me in right mood.
Reason for
considerable drop in marks can be many. Some of the major reasons are as follows:
- Complete dependency on teacher assisted class work , teacher assisted home and assignment completion.
- Attention deficit due to more interesting happenings around his/her own wonder world.
- Lack of priority or realization of consequence of poor academic achievements.
- Over engagement in other interesting activities like: Guesting, Roaming Around, Too much playing, Watching T.V.
- No check on self study time table and quality engagement of the child after the school.
Solutions: JOINT EFFORT BY TEACHER, PARENT AND STUDENT with well defined MENTOR MENTEE ACTION PLAN.
