ACTIVITIES
|
DO'S
|
DON'TS
|
SETTING UP ENVIRONMENT/ GIVING A
START
|
Enter into the
class with lots of energy and greet the class or thank if children greets
earlier.
|
Don't avoid the
greetings by saying ok, ok sit down. Say - Please take your sit.
|
SETTING UP GREEN BOARD [1 - 2 minutes]
|
Write the
complete topics/sub topics name of the top of the green board with date. Turn
back to the class.
|
Don't start the
content delivery before interacting about previous days class work and home
work by methods like raising hand or quick round in the class.
|
SETTING UP STUDENTS DESK [5-7
minutes]
|
Take a quick
round to see text book and class work note book is open, if student used
rough note book then also see that class work note book is updated, it will
take 5 minutes initially till habit is formed.
|
Don't avoid any
case in which student not ready with note book, text book or writing
materials. Take serious note of it and follow up with the student and parents
also if required about bag packing.
|
INTRODUCTION
|
Discuss relevance
of the topic by telling student WHY TO STUDY THE TOPIC , WHAT TO STUDY AND
EXAMINERS FAVOURITE QUESTIONS ( A FEW EXAMPLES), WHICH CHILD WILL BE ABLE TO
DO AFTER COMPLETION OF THE CHAPTER.
|
Don't let the
time get wasted much in settling the class and addressing individual petty
issues, discourage complaint resolution in class, take note of irrelevant
question and promise to answer later and go ahead with content delivery.
Don't digress from the focus.
|
RECAPITULATION
|
Write the Key
Words required to understand the chapter in the beginning , After little
progress of the chapter keep asking oral questions related to keywords so
that students revise and repeat to recall.
|
Don't digress
from the chapter and subtopics. Don't Skip any topic.
|
EXPLANATION
|
Relate the topic
to be explained with surroundings and interesting examples which students can
relate.
|
Don't move on to
the next topic until the highlights and written notes of the explanation is
not noted down by students.
|
USE QUESTIONING SKILLS
|
Use questions
which students can understand and write the the question on the green board
with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation and proper question tag. Use
close ended questions.
|
Don't make
students write the answer in fair note book untill the most correct prompt is
not identified or correct answer is not written on the green board.
|
SOME EXAMPLE OF THE QUESTIONS USED
TO EXPLAIN OR PROVOKE LEARNING ARE:
|
Sequential
concept building questions using What, Why, When, Where, distinguish between,
calculate, give reasons, cite example, fill in the blanks, choose the write
option/word, Match the columns, High order of thinking based questions, magic
based on the concept, tongue twister, role play, read aloud and explain,
draw, level the diagram.
|
Don't give open
ended questions during explanation because different contradictory view may
crop up.
|
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING
|
Worksheet
solving, making laboratory journals, wiriting featured reports, extraploting
a role in a story and drama, extracting concepts of grammar in the story to
be read.
|
Don't give
directionless instructions in assessment task like remember page number
_____, topic _____. What to perform, has to be clarified.
|
Project Assignment or Written Home
Work
|
Written H.W has
to be done in school during home work period due to demographic reasons,
except in case of Mathematics, Project Assignment Should be simpe and cheap
but impactful.
|
Don't ask for any
home work or project assignment in which parents or outsiders involve or
invest ans students would need to go to each other's home or raise fund.
|
Closure / Summary of the Chapter
|
Provide study
material for challenlising the effort towards good performance in the
upcoming tests and examinations. The Individual study materials later can be
compiled quarterly, half yearly and annually.
|
Don't plagarise
any content by directly copying and pasting but use santised and originally
produced material by yourself for your students as per the class work, Home
work , CET and pattern examination.
|
Conduct of CHAPTER END TEST (DURING ONE OF THE
REMEDIAL PERIODS)
|
Communicate about
the portion, pattern of questions, date, time and full marks of the CET
before the start of the chapter as per the log book.
|
Don't accommodate
more than one CET or Conduct CET before completing the chapter by all norms.
|
Remedial and Reteaching (Special
Periods allocated)
|
Identify the
areas of improvement based on CET and prepare a teaching plan for reteaching
during the remedial period. Separate SOP is available for action planning of
remedial.
|
Don't get
